Overview
The Oricom Ezy100 is a mobile phone designed specifically for the seniors market, with emphasis on ease of use.
It has an extra loud ringer and speaker (ringer up to 100dB, speaker up to25dB) for those with a hearing impairment, and a help switch that sounds an alarm and dials up to five numbers in an emergency.
What’s good- Loud ringer and speaker do the job nicely
- Hearing aid compatible
- Big buttons are easy to hit
- Emergency switch has loud alarm and will dial up to five numbers
What’s not so good
- Screen only fits six digits across, meaning a standard phone number has to go over two lines making it harder to read
- The soft buttons may confuse some users
- Only available in dual band GSM (900/1800) which limits coverage and international roaming ability
BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth hands free kit
Overview
This hands free kit is a cost effective alternative to a fully installed car kit. It clips onto your car's sun visor and connects to your mobile phone via Bluetooth.
Unlike many similar hands free kits, the Supertooth 3 will download your phonebook from your mobile. This allows the kit to use text-to-speech (TTS) technology to read and announce the caller’s name, so you don't need to look at your phone to see who's calling. By responding “OK” to the call, the Supertooth 3 will automatically answer the call.
What’s good- Solid design and high quality buttons
- TTS is a great feature
- Can be paired with up to eight mobile phones
- Voice recognition to dial, accept and reject calls
- Sound quality is very good compared to similar hands free products
- Can be easily transferred from car to car
- Good battery life between charges (up to 15 hours talk time, up to 800 hours standby time)
What’s not so good- Does not automatically mute car stereo like a fully integrated hands free kit
- Can be annoying if you forget to turn it off as it will stay connected to your phone if it's within 10 meters
- Although you can pair up to eight mobile phones to the Supertooth 3, you can only have one phone paired at a time
